We held the first mental health charity film festival with the theme of “See the lights of life” aiming at raising public awareness in mental health through the power of movies. This was also a fund-raising event. All donations were used to support subsidized counselling services for our service users. On the day of the film festival, two movies were screened – “On Happiness Road”, which focused on cultivating happiness, and “Stronger”, which explored the aftermath of trauma. Following the screenings, our counsellors and a service user shared their insights on the films and how counselling had impacted their lives. The event was a resounding success, raising over $12,000 in donations. We would like to express our gratitude to all the donors, volunteers and participants who showed tremendous support to this event.
In 2023, we proudly hosted our first-ever mental health charity film festival, “See the lights of life,” with the mission of raising public awareness in mental health through the power of movies. The event featured two films – “On Happiness Road,” an award-winning cartoon that followed the journey of a young woman as she navigated the complexities of finding joy in life. This was followed by “Stronger,” a moving portrayal of an individual’s path to recovery after a life-altering event, showcasing the resilience in overcoming trauma. After each screening, our in-house counselors and a service user shared insightful reflections on the films and how ReSource’s subsidizing counseling services can transform lives.
The film festival was a resounding success, raising over $12,000 in donations to support our ongoing subsidized counseling services for our service users. We are immensely grateful to the generous donors, dedicated volunteers, and enthusiastic participants who made this event possible. Their collective support has reinforced our commitment to destigmatize mental health conversations within our community.
