Psychological Crisis Intervention response to Protest Aftermath and Covid-19 Outbreak in Hong Kong

Target beneficiaries:
General public affected by protest aftermath and Covid-19. Organizations/ Schools/ NGOs
Hong Kong people have faced unprecedented pressure in life, from social movements to the COVID-19 epidemic, leading to rising mental health concerns in the community. In response, we launched a mental health support and counselling program aimed at improving the overall mental well-being of the local population.

Through this program, we provided subsidized face-to-face and online counselling services, as well as organized mental health public talks, workshops, and support groups. To meet the changing mental health needs during the pandemic, we have also taken additional steps, such as filming a series of mental health short videos, increasing the provision of online counselling services, and holding various online activities to help people relieve stress and overwhelming emotions. All these efforts have provided Hong Kong people with timely support during the epidemic, helping them develop healthy self-care habits while being quarantined at home.

Subsidized counselling during COVID

Target beneficiaries:
People who were unemployed or underemployed during pandemic
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hong Kong's unemployment and underemployment rates continued to rise, and the high-pressure social environment caused more people to face mental health problems. In response, we launched the "Subsidized counselling during COVID" program to support individuals and families who were unemployed or underemployed due to the pandemic. Through this program, beneficiaries were able to receive 6 sessions of counselling services at our center at a subsidized rate of $30 per session. The goal was to help these individuals and families build up their psychological resilience and overcome the challenges they were facing during this difficult period.
